Talk on the Anzac Day memorial service at Villers-Bretonneux
Members were enthralled by the the talk on two historical battles from 100 years ago which took place at a small village, Villers-Bretonneux, near Amiens in the region of the Somme. These battles where a volunteer force of Australians played a major part, sealed a friendship between France and Australia. This bilingual talk was give by members Odette Margot and Claire Honegger. Claire attended the dawn service at Villers-Bretonneux in 2018 with her son Chris who directed the Requiem Service held two days previously. Also attending were the Prime Ministers of France and Australia and Prince Charles.
Les membres ont été captivés par l'exposé sur deux batailles historiques d'il y a 100 ans qui ont eu lieu dans un petit village, Villers-Bretonneux, près d'Amiens dans la région de la Somme. Ces batailles, où une force de volontaires australiens a joué un rôle majeur, ont scellé une amitié entre la France et l'Australie. Cette conférence bilingue a été donnée par les membres Odette Margot et Claire Honegger. Claire a assisté à l'office de l'aube à Villers-Bretonneux en 2018 avec son fils Chris qui a dirigé le service de Requiem tenu deux jours auparavant Les Premiers ministres français et australien et le Prince Charles étaient également présents.
